| Mr. Spencer,
Excuse me, but sentencing the Plowshares' nuns does make sense to some.
They were found guilty of trespassing on government property. They caused
the US Air Force to respond to an alarm at one of our missile sites. This
involved time and manpower, and a certain degree of risk to our airmen,
not to mention a diverting of government resources from protecting other
missile sites.
These women have a long history of such acts of
destruction. What do they teach their inner-city kids? How to destroy
government property? How to break the law and manage to fool gullible
reporters into feeling sorry for them?
Let me see if I understand you? One should not be punished according to
the law when proven guilty of committing crimes? That is a foolish and
dangerous argument. You would be better served to support the men
and women charged with protecting our country, rather than misguided nuns
who practice the bizarre habit of using their own blood to v andalize
government property.
I hope the judge sentences these women to the prison terms
allowed by law. Let's not send a message that endangering the men
and women serving our country is an acceptable form of protest.
Sincerely,
Carol Stonemetz
